Abbey Hulton is a friendly urban estate with a real sense of community. Abbey Hulton is a scheduled monument a former monastery of the Cistercian Combermere Abbey. The abbey was founded by Henry de Audley in the early 13th century, the ruins are accessible with good parking.
There are local community groups and projects, the Betty Rushton community gardens, there is a community Cafe at St John’s church open Monday to Wednesday which is a Place of Welcome, offering a warm space with free tea and coffee, there are a good number of local shops and local places to eat, cafés and public houses.
The Wallace Sports and Education Centre is a health and leisure facility with excellent facilities open to the public.
